Worth using rail pass for Osaka - Takayama?

Konnichiwa !

I will be joining a 5-day tour around Osaka from Jan 10-15 2014, which covers Kobe and Kyoto. At the end of this tour, I plan to visit Ogimachi farmhouse village on my own. I will be travelling with 2 children age 3 and 4. I have trouble deciding if I need to use a rail pass for this leg. I read in other post the following rail cost from Osaka to Takayama.

Osaka - Takayama ¥ 10,010
Takayama - Osaka ¥ 10,010

My current travel itinerary is as follows:
1. Jan 15 - Osaka to Takayama
2. Jan 16 - half day trip to visit Ogimachi
3. Jan 17 - Takayama to Nagoya
4. Jan 18 - around Nagoya metro area
5. Jan 19 - Nagoya to Osaka KIX airport
