JR Pass Activation on Dec

Yes, you have 3 months to activate the pass, and you can select a starting date up to 30 days later when making the exchange in Japan.

That means, if you order your pass on/after September 12th and then exchange it with the 3 months, then you can start travel on the 28th.

Then if I buy the pass on 25 Sept '23, then Exchange it on 20 Dec '23, I can activate it from 31 Dec '23 - 6 Jan '24 ?
