Is there direct connection to the JR ferry, can I see a timetable somewhere for the JR ferry? I could not find it on Hyperdia.

The pier for the Miyajima ferry is a short (3 mins) walk from Miyajimaguchi station. Here's a map of the route from the station to the port for you
Ferries run every 15 minutes to Miyajima from the Miyajimaguchi pier. You can see a timetable of miyajima ferries (translated by google translate) here.
