I will be staying at the Shibuya Excel Tokyu hotel in Shibuya while in Tokyo next month. Can you please tell me where is the closest train station that I can take the Shinkansen Hikari train to Kyoto? What's the best way to get to this station?

Hi Dym,
I would recommend going from Shibuya station to Shinagawa station using the JR Yamanote line and at Shinagawa transfer to the Hikari Shinkansen bound for Kyoto.
Full route is covered by the JR Pass.
