Kyoto 2 days Itinerary

Hello, I want to spend time in Kyoto for 2 days, I'll be living at 3-5 minutes away from Philosopher's walk.
I want to check whether is my itinerary possible?

my first day Kyoto will probably start around 11am-ish, since I arrive from Osaka.
walk/ bicycle : Philosopher's Walk > Ginkakuji > Nanzenji > Gion > Kiyomizu-dera

2nd day (from morning till night) :
Fushimi Inari -> Nishiki Market -> Nijo Castle -> Kyoto Manga Museum (skippable)-> Kinkakuji -> Tenryuji + Arashiyama Bamboo forest

I want to ask whether this is possible, and should I only take the Kyoto bus pass for 2nd day (500Y) or buy the 2000Y bus pass?

Also, what time will the temples be closed down? Since from what I heard Japan starts getting dark around 5pm?

Is there anything I should add to this? Thank you!

Hi there,

Yes this is certainly doable although you will be somewhat on the clock. So I suggest start as early as possible :) Most temples close around 5 pm.

Walking around Fushimi Inari also takes quite a bit of time, just to walk around and really enjoy the endless rows of torigates. So there too I recommend coming early.

Personally I love exploring Kyoto on bicycle and you can reach everything if you have a map with you and don't mind riding a couple of miles between places. You get the see the city in a way not possible otherwise.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thank you, I will definitely give bicycling a try, on the first day perhaps.
But from Ginkakuji-michi (my place of living) to Fushimi Inari or even Arashiyama, is that possible? It seems far..

If other means than bicycle, I was thinking to go to Fushimi Inari by JR Nara Line, but I was wondering how to proceed from Fushimi Inari to Nishiki Market. Is it better to ride train by going to Kawaramachi station or is there any bus outside of the temple? I know that Kyoto have all around bus, and I plan to take the Kyoto One Day Bus Pass but I'm unsure if theres a bus station outside of all the places I'm going? Thank you for your help!

Hi again!

You can indeed take the bus. They are everwhere in Kyoto. Here is a Kyoto bus map.
You can certainly bicycle there too, it is almost a straight line to follow.

Thank you! I've looked up the bus lines and I guess
I've decided to use JR line bus + on second day, and altered the Kyoto trip to become 3 days.

2nd day : Fushimi Inari -> Nijo Castle -> Kinkakuji - JR line + Kyoto bus

3rd day : Arashiyama - Tenryuji + Bamboo Forest + Togestukyo Bridge -> Kyoto Station -> Takao -> Jigoji temple

I do hope the bus runs until evening?

Lastly, do you think it's worth to use half day of Osaka to go to Hiroshima ; to see Sunset at the Tori?

Hi again!

Buses do run until late but not into the night.

Hiroshima is worth a visit but I think you would have to make it a full day trip. Otherwise the travel time, simply is not worth it.
