Itinerary including Haneda

Hi there,

1.) A 7 day JR Pass could certainly be helpful given that you would cover the return Tokyo - Kyoto with it. The Pass itself is about the same price as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto using the Shinkansen and you can cover travel from Haneda with it as well, in addition to local travel around Tokyo on the JR network or even make a day trip from Tokyo.

2.) I do recommend activating the JR Pass at Haneda Airport. This way you can start using it right away and cover the full trip to Kyoto.

3.) To get to Kyoto from Haneda. Tokyo the Tokyo Monorail to Hamamatsucho and from there the JR Yamanote line to either Tokyo or Shinagawa stations to get on the Shinkansen to Kyoto.

Just to clarify a couple things:

1. Is the tokyo monorail part of JR or this would have to be purchased separately after activating the pass?

2. Can the Pass be used for the Narita Express? Just going to be using it one way

Both the Tokyo Monorail and Narita Express are covered by the JR Pass. No need to buy any other ticket :)
