Hiroshima to Yakushima (Shiratani Unsuikyo)

Hello!

I am going to be in Japan for 2 weeks - (1 week Tokyo for work and 1 week vacation). I would like to visit Hiroshima and Yakushima on this trip.

I am planning the following:

7/27 - Tokyo to Hiroshima via Plane - Arriving around 4 pm. Explore Hiroshima and go to Miyajima for sunset
7/28 - Motosumi-inari - Day trip via Shinkansen? (I can skip this if it's too far and we are short on days to visit Yakushima)
7/29 - Yakushima via Shinkansen?
7/30 - Yakushima
7/31 - Yakushima to United States via Plane?

I can't really find a good way to go from Hiroshima to Yakushima.

Any help appreciated!

Hi Ellen,

For access to Yukushima read this web page it has all the details on how to get there. There is however no easy way to travel from Hiroshima to Yukushima. I think it would make most sense to take the Shinkansen to Kagoshima and from there use a ferry to Yukushima.

Motosumi-inari (in Nagano?) is also too far as a day trip from Hiroshima. You could however do it from Tokyo if you have the chance.

Hi Daniel,

I meant Motonosumi Inari in the Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It looks closer to Hiroshima vs. Tokyo.
I did a little bit more research and I think I might try this itinerary if possible:

7/28 - Tokyo to Yamadera (山寺), Yamagata and explore Sendai, then back to Tokyo
7/29 - Tokyo to Hiroshima via Plane(Miyajima)
7/30 - Hiroshima to Motonosumi Inari and explore Hiroshima
7/31 - Hiroshima to United States via Plane

I really wanted to visit the Takeda Castle but I will not have time if I go from Tokyo right? I could stay until 8/1 if you can help me squeeze the Takeda Castle somewhere.
