Hi there!

Your plans already look very good to me! I think that a 7 day JR Pass would be the best option for you, because you can use it to cover all your long distance and pricy travel (with day 4 as starting date). All in all there are only some small things I would change, here they are:

1.) Switch your visit to Harajuku and Nikko around. This way you could use your JR Pass to the max, given that you would start using the JR Pass on day 4. Travel to Nikko can be somewhat expansive when you travel without the JR Pass.

2.) On day 5 when you go to visit Dotonbori, add something else to your plans! Dotonbori is one of the best places to visit in Osaka but it won't keep you busy for a full day. I would add the nearby Shinsaibashi shopping street for sure and if you are interested in electronics/gadgets/anime add a visit to the close by Denden town as well.

3.) The same for day 12, Asakusa is not to be missed but you will have seen everything there after a couple of hours. Why not visit the close by Ueno park, there you can visit Ueno zoo or visit Ginza for some brand shopping.

I hope this helps to improve your itinerary!

Here's something you could do on day 13.

For sightseeing head to Kamakura. This area close to Tokyo is home to many beautiful sights, temples and Shrines.

When you are done, head back to Tokyo for a shopping visit to Shinjuku. I would recommend Shinjuku for shopping as it has something of everything, including fashion, electronics and lots of smalls things! You can also visit Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building which allows free entrance to observatory on the 45th floor and offers a beautiful panoramic view of Tokyo.

Hope this helps!

thanks Danielsan. i shall discuss with my friend.

Also if we were to purchase 7 day JR pass roughly how much would we have to spend getting to and from narita airport.

also (sorry if this is stupid) on the days that we are travelling around tokyo without activating JR pass that means we have to pay for train tickets each time right? do those tickets last all day?and roughly how much should i budget for train tickets.... im not exactly sure how it works over there.

A ticket to Narita Airport is about 3000Yen for one way on the Narita Express, you can also travel there by local trains, this will take about 30-50 minutes longer, involve a transfer or two but will only set you back around 1,200Yen.

You have a couple of options for local travel in Tokyo, you can just buy tickets separately for each leg that you travel, a one way ticket in Tokyo generally is somewhere between 150-250 Yen but this can add up if you travel around a lot.

Alternatively you can buy a day ticket for the Metro and/or the JR Network. These tickets starts around 700Yen for a day and can offer good value if you plan to see a lot of the city and neighboring area. You can find more about all day tickets here.

Enjoy!
Daniel
