Ordinary or Green Class?

Hello Daniel,

We will be ordering the JR Pass soon and need guidance if the "Green Class" or "Ordinary" is best for our traveling. We are a family of 5 (4 adults and a 13 year old). Can you please give me your advice?

• Does the "Ordinary" have reserved seats available or is it just the "Green Class"? On different days, we will be traveling from Tokyo to Kamakura (and back to Tokyo), Tokyo to Osaka, Osaka to Hiroshima (and back to Osaka) and Osaka to Kyoto (and back to Osaka), Since those are long rides, I wanted to make sure that we had a seat. We will be traveling with luggage on two occasions.

• With the "Green Class", is reserved seating available for all rides or just some? Can we use the "Green Class" if we do not have reserved seats or we will have to use the "Ordinary"?
