We will be traveling with a JR Rail Pass from Kyoto to Hakone. Please explain for us the best and easiest JR trains to take using the Pass. I know we will need to transfer from a Shinkansen at some point. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Hi there,
The best route would be to take the Shinkansen bullet train from Shin-Kobe to Shin-Osaka, there transfer to the Tokaido Shinkansen and use the Hikari express to Odawara station, which is the Shinkansen station for Hakone.

Thank you for your reply. However, I am not clear on why we would need to go from Kyoto to Osaka before we travel by Hikari express to Odawara. Is it not possible to take the Hikari express from Kyoto station to Odawara station? Also please explain how we would get from Odawara station to Hakone town office via JR train or other method of travel.
