Hakuba to Hiroshima to Tokyo

Hi there,

The JR Pass does cover train travel from Hakuba to Nagoya. Here is an example route. However for the sake of simplicity and time, I would use a bus from Hakuba to Nagano and from there use the Shinkansen or a limited express train to Nagoya. Like this, trains can be reserved at any ticket window in Japan.

With travel to Hiroshima and back to Tokyo, a JR Pass is well recommended.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi, I was just about to purchase our JR tickets but the train itinerary shows train from Nagoya to Hiroshima is a Nozomi train - which is specifically excluded from JR. Are you sure we can get all the way from Hakuba to Hiroshima on a JR pass?

Hi again,

You can't use the Nozomi but you can use the Hikari and Sakura Shinkansen instead. The route would look as follows:

Take the Hikari Shinkansen from Nagoya - Shin-Osaka, there transfer to the Sakura Shinkansen bound for Hiroshima.

Hakuba to Hiroshima is fully covered by the JR Pass, however it is a long ride (would also be long without a JR Pass). Here is the full route if done in one go. Note that the part Hakuba - Matsumoto is on the same train (you don't have to change).

Hope this helps,
Daniel
