HI, I will be going to Japan on the following itinerary.

Nov 2 Arrive Narita airport and wish to start the 7 day JR pass to Kyoto.
Nov 3 - 5 Koyto
Nov 6 Leave Kyoto to Osaka using JP pass
Nov 7 Osaka
Nov 8 Leave Osaka to Tokyo using JR pass
Nov 9 Day Trip to Hakone
Nov 10-11 Tokyo
Nov 12 Narita Airport, departing Japan

1) Should I buy the 7 day JP pass and is the last day of usage on Nov 8 Midnight ?
2) For the day trip to Hakone, if I buy the Hakone Free Pass, am I able to use it on Odakyu Romancecar?
3) Can the JR pass use for day trip to Uji and Arashiyama from Kyoto?

Hi there,

1.) Yes, I would recommend a 7 day JR Pass for Narita Airport - Kyoto - Osaka - Tokyo. This would give you nice savings over normal tickets and you can use the JR Pass to cover all of these routes, in addition to local JR travel in Osaka.

2.) The Hakone Pass can be used for the Romance Car but you still have to pay for the limited express fare, I believe this is 890 yen from Shinjuku station.

3.) Yes, both travel to Uji and Arashiyama is covered by the JR Pass from Kyoto station.
