1 day upgrade to green car

I am wondering if there is any option to upgrade the rail pass to green car for only 1 day? where can i find more information like how much is the 1 day upgrade and can i do the upgrade in japan?

Hello there,

It is not possible to upgrade to Green Class. If you want to travel on Green Class using a normal class then you will have to pay the full Green Fare, the JR Pass will cover the normal charge.

For instance:
Tokyo - Kyoto: ¥ 18,690(Ticket Fare:¥ 8,210 Seat Fee:¥ 10,480). This means that you would have to pay the full Seat Fee if you where to travel in Green Class. In this case it would be better to just buy a JR Green Class Pass to start with.
