Use of JRPass for 10 day planned trip

A 7 JR Pass (¥28,300) will generally pay for itself with a return trip from Tokyo to Kyoto. For your trip I recommend the following:

1. [Narita Express + Suica prepaid card] or Keisei Skyliner + 2 day metro pass for your travel from Narita into Tokyo + discount travel around Tokyo.
2. 7 day JR Pass for your travel from Tokyo down to Kyoto and back to the airport.

Lets check how much you will save from the 4th-10th using the JR Pass:

1. Tokyo > Nagoya: ¥10,780 (126mins, 366km)
2. Nagoya > Kyoto: ¥5,640 (37mins, 147km)
