For your itinerary, a 7-day Japan Rail Pass would likely be worth it, especially if you activate it on January 7 to cover your long-distance travel from Tokyo to Mount Fuji, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Osaka, and back to Tokyo. Individual tickets for these routes would generally cost more than the pass. I’d definitely recommend purchasing a pass if you can fit your train travel within a 7-day period.
