Hello I've been torn between a 7 day and 14 day rail pass. Here's our itinerary that is still in the works. Any help would be great!

Day 1: NRT to Tokyo. Staying in Ginza. Going to Tokyo Tower at night.

Day 2: Tokyo (Shibuya, Harajuku station, Yoyogi park, Shinjuku Gyoen, Roppongi, Shinjuku for dinner at the robot restaurant)

Day 3: Tokyo (Tsukiji fish market, Asakusa, Akihabara, Ryogkoku, Ueno Park)

Day 4: Tokyo (Possible trip down to Yokohama and Kamakura)

Day 5: Tokyo to Osaka (Umeda, Osaka Castle, Dotonbori/Namba)

Day 6: Osaka (Edion Arena for Sumo wrestling... not sure what else this day)

Day 7: Osaka (Day trip to Kobe? or Nara?)

Day 8: Osaka to Kyoto

Day 9: Kyoto

Day 10: Kyoto to NRT

Hi there,

The JRPass is best used for longer distances such as Tokyo - Osaka and Kyoto to Narita Airport. While local travel in Tokyo does not amount to that much and it works fine to buy normal tickets or use an IC card like Suica.

With your itinerary in mind, I would use a 7 day JR Pass from day 4 to day 10. This way you cover all the important parts and make great savings compared to purchasing normal train tickets.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
