I will be travelling to Japan from 10-25 January 2015. My itinerary will be as such:
10 Jan - Arrive at Kansai Airport, travel to and stay in Kyoto
10-14 Jan - Kyoto/Osaka
14 Jan - Travel from Kyoto to Tokyo (via Shinkansen)
14-24 Jan - Tokyo
24 Jan - Travel to Kansai Airport for flight home
I need advise on whether should I get the JR Pass, Regional Pass, or buy individual tickets when I'm in Japan.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hi there,
I would recommend buying normal tickets for this one. The JR Pass for would be a good option if you made the return Osaka - Tokyo within 7 days, however since you've got 10 days to spend in Tokyo it would be better to just buy tickets as you travel.

I have some further questions.
1) If I buy tickets as I travel, do I need to buy them in advance or can I buy them just before I take the train?
2) How do I buy shinkansen tickets at Kyoto station and Tokyo station?
3) How do I check the prices for my tickets? Are the prices listed on www.hyperdia.com correct? Is there any additional costs I should take note of?
