When JR pass gets activated

Hi Gordon,

You can activate/exchange your JR Pass in Japan anytime up to 3 months from the date of purchase.

On activation you must specify an exact starting date for your validity period anytime within the following 1 month. So rather than the JR Pass being activated by a stamp on the first day, you must choose the exact starting date for your intended validity period when you activate it in Japan.

Hi Gordon - yes that's correct. You will be asked to fill in a form where you can specify your precise starting date so it should be very clear.
