Hello, can I know where does the Hokuetsu express connect between or is the train running still? I see that this train is covered by the JR East Nagano Niigata pass (presumably also the JR rail pass).

No, the Hokuetsu is no longer in service since the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen. Now, only rapid trains travel this section.

Most people use the Hokuriku Shinkansen.

Thank you for clarification - confused since JR east pass site and another still advertises this train!
