Hi,

My boyfriend and I would like to go to kamikochi from 2 of august until the 4.
I have read a lot about how to get in Kamikochi but I would like to know if my route is correct.
We wil take the train from hakuba to shinshimashima. From shinimashima we need to take a bus to the kamikochi bus terminal. Is this correct?
I also found a website with timetables of the bus. But i'ts difficult to read. http://www.alpico.co.jp/access/kamikochi/shinshimashima/
I think we should arrive in shinshimishima at 13u14.
And in that station leaves a bus to kamikochi at 13u30,14u15 or 14u45. Is that correct?

Next question i have is about hiking mount hotaka. I don't know if this question is suitable here but every website I find is in japanese and I cant't read japanese.
We would like to hike up mount hotaka but we need to stay overnight in the hotaka dake sanso. I would like to reservate a room in that hut. But I can't find a website where i can make a reservation by mail or phonenumber. Can you help?

Last question, I have read that you can reservate a seat on a train. How does that work and can we do it in advance from Belgium or do we need to be in a trainstation of japan to reservate a seat?

It would be a great help if you can answer all my questions because these are the last things I need to do and I'm stuck.

Hi,
From what I can see you are correct. Although your link was a dead end - I found the schedule here. The bus departure times are listed for your bus - K-01. Your info is correct.

I have never stayed overnight on Hotaka, so there is not much I can offer you. It looks like you can reserve a room on Trip Advisor though. From what I can dig up, their phone number is 090-7869-0045 (ignore the first zero if calling from abroad). It's supposed to be a very brutal steep trail - just 8km but a 1700m climb and will really stress your knees. From what I read, unless you leave in the morning, you won't make it to Hotakadake-Sanso by sunset. You might find this page helpful.

For reserve a seat a seat I presume you mean while on the rail pass. You can do it as soon as you activate your pass and make reservations at any JR office.
