Hi, we are planning to travel as 3 adults and 1 child. Planning to visit Tokyo, Fiji, Kyoto and Osaka on this 10 day trip. Can you please suggest the most economical JR Pass package? I only see 7 days and 14 days tickets package. I would like to travel by trains as I heard it's the most economical way. Also, is there a specific Regional Pass I need or JR Pass will work for everything in my plan.

Hi there,
You don't need to have a pass for each day of your travels. A JR Pass works best for longer trips, especially when travelling on the high speed bullet trains. For example, you'd be fine using a 7-day Japan Rail Pass to Kyoto, Osaka and back to Tokyo. Then use local tickets, or an IC card, for the days you stay within Tokyo.

Thanks you for the response. Does JR Pass work for trains within each city (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka) or do I need to buy IC card for that?
