Can I buy JR pass or buy them separate is cheaper?

Hello there,
The JR Pass can only be purchased outside of Japan and unfortunately we won't be able to get you the pass in time, given short amount of time involved. So my advice would be to buy tickets as you travel.
Below is an example itinerary for you.
Tokyo - Toyama.
Note that travel within the Japanese Alps is done by bus, for instance when you travel to Kamikochi and I don't have a system that displays buses.
