Takayama Hokuriku Tourist Pass

Hi Joanne,

Yes you may use it as a return ticket between Kyoto - Takayama. However it does not include Shinkansen travel, travel from Kyoto - Osaka or travel within Kyoto/Osaka.

2/12/14 Osaka-Kyoto
3/12/14 Kyoto-Shiragawa
4/12/14 Kyoto
5/12/14 Kyoto-Osaka

Just wonder is the pass valid for all my 4 days route / use it as a return ticket between Osaka-Takayama.

The Hokuriku ticket does not cover travel between Kyoto-Osaka. Only between Takayama - Kyoto.

I checked in Hyperdia, there has a direct train from Kyoto to Kanazawa, which is LTD. EXP THUNDERBIRD.

Does this Takayama Hokuriku Tourist Pass will cover this train -LTD EXP THUNDERBIRD ?

Yes the Thunderbird is covered by this ticket.

We don't sell the ticket here. My advise would be to look for an online reseller or buy the ticket at one of Majpr station where the ticket is sold.

Hi, I will go to Nagoya in Dec.
I know this pass includes buses from Takayama to Shirakawa-go and Kanazawa. Buses need to be booked in advance. I have asked the store that I purchased the pass, but she answered me she cannot help me to book.
I would like to ask how I can book the bus seat before arrive Japan?

Hello Coe,

As for as I know, you'll have to book the buses in person once you arrive in Nagoya or any of the major stations from where buses depart.

By the way, it's really a bad news. I will go to Shirakawa and Kanazawa on 23 Dec, when is a Japan holiday. The bus may be full and I'm afraid I can't book the seat when I arrive Nagoya on 21 Dec.

Is the Takayama Hokuriku Tourist Pass can cover my route from Day 4 to Day 6 ?

Day 5-Kanazawa-Shirakawago-Takayama -( cover by this pass) --From Takayama to Shin hotaka onsen ( By Nohi bus) -do not cover by this pass
Day 6-Shin hotaka Onsen-Takayama ( By Nohi Bus) -do not cover by this pass
From Takayama-Nagoya ( Direct train- LTD. EXP (WIDE VIEW) HIDA 2 ) -cover by this pass

As my understanding, the pass can use as per above, am i right?

if i use my pass to accordingto the schedule plan below

Day 1 Osaka to nagoya

Day 2 nagoya to kanazawa

Day 3 bus to Shirakawago via nohi bus as day trip n back to kanazawa

Day 3 Kanazawa to takayama

day 4 Takayama to gero onsen via either bus or train

day 5 gero onsen to osaka

Will the bus cover fully ?

I am ok to make changes accordingly
