I am flying into Haneda, staying in Tokyo for several nights then off to Kyoto, possibly Mt. Fuji, for several days but then going back tomTokyo for flt home. Does it make sense to buy JR pass?

Hi there,
Yes a JR Pass may be worth considering for your travel. This because the 7 day JR Pass is about the same price as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto on the Shinkansen. Now you can 7 days of unlimited travel, and any extra travel is basically free. For instance you can use the JR Pass for local travel around Tokyo on the JR Network or for travel on the Monorail to Haneda Airport.
