Is it advisable to activate my JR Pass at 8:00 PM on the day I come to Kansai? Isn't it like a whole day has almost passed already?Should you advise me to buy a separate ticket going to Osaka instead and just activate my JR Pass the next day to maximize its use? Thank you.

Hello there,
The JR Pass is counted in full days and the starting time on the first day does not matter, it is stilla full day.
Therefor it may be smart to activate the JR Pass a date later if you arrive late at Kansai airport. It's not too far to Osaka and using a normal ticket for this ride may be the best way to go.
