Travelling with an ordinary pass is more than sufficient for most people. Ordinary class is better than 1st class in many countries and I think that you will be impressed. However Green Class is really putting the cherry on the cake. Consider a Green Pass is you wish to travel in more quiet en comfort. Yes Green Cars are available for the entire route. Note that there's a limited amount on the route Kyoto - Hiroshima, so I would recommend reserving your seats in advance, just in case.
