Hello,
My family (wife and 6 yr old) arrive at Haneda on 7th April at 07:15 and would like to travel to Kyoto using the JR pass. What is the best route and will it be possible with 2 large suitcases? Can I pre-book seats in advance?

Hi Ed,
The best route is to take the Narita Express from Narita Airport to Tokyo station and transfer there to the bullet trains bound for Kyoto. There are train services going at least every 30 minutes.
Tickets can be reserved once you are in Japan, don't worry about tickets being sold out, as there are many seats to go around and trains rarely sell out.
