I'm planning a trip to kyoto from tokyo on decembre 28th: do I have to book a seat on the train? can I do it in advance? if yes how can i do that?
I need another info: how can i get from airport to the station to kyoto? timing?

Hi there,
Seats can be reserved at any JR Station. Show your JRPass and tell the staff where and when you wish to travel. They will then reserve the seats free of charge.
It depends what airport you are coming from. I assume Kansai Airport as it is closest for international flights. There is a direct train connection between Kansai Airport and Kyoto, this is the Haruka Express and will get you from one place to the other in 80 minutes.
