Hi, looking forward to our May/June trip to Japan. Can you please clarify that a 14 day pass is suitable for us - looking at activating it on Day 5
Arrive Tokyo late evening 31 May
4 nights Tokyo
Activate JR Pass 4 June - travel to Kyoto
5 nights Kyoto - day trips using JR Pass to Nara, Osaka and Hiroshima
Kyoto to Takayama - (2 nights Takayama) can we use JR Pass for this travel route?
Takayama to Toyama (1 night Toyama) can we use JR Pass for this travel route?
Alpine Route - one way - is JR Pass valid for any of that trip?
2 nights at Hakuba at end of Alpine Route (are you able to give any help as to how to get from Ogizawa Station to Shakespeare Hotel??)
Hakuba to Tokyo (staying Odaiba 2 nights)
Odaiba to Narita Airport
The NEX Round trip is only valid for 14 days - can we just purchase single fares for is there another option?

Hi there,
I looked at options and a 14 day JR Pass is by far the best option. Travel to Kansai, Hiroshima, Takayama and so on are very costly trips without a JR Pass and you can make very good savings using a 14 day JR Pass, even if some parts are not covered.
Going a bit into today, travel to Travel to Kansai (Kyoto, Osaka, Nara), Hiroshima, Takayama is all included, travel to Toyama for the Alpine Route, from Toyama however other transport is required.
I don't have the access details for your hotel but I would recommend asking your accommodation directly.
For the NEX, I would just buy normal tickets, as you are right about the 14 day limitation.
