Hello,
I plan to arrive in Osaka and travel central Honshu: Osaka > Kyoto > Kanazawa > Takayama > Tokyo > return to Osaka (maybe some other day trips to Nara etc). Is there a regional pass that I should use?

Hi there,
You will be travelling through several regions, so a regional pass would not really make sense. The closest match is the Hokuriku Arch Pass but this pass does not include travel to Takayama. So I think your best bet would be a 7-day Japan Rail Pass.
