Planned Itinerary:
8 Mar - Tokyo to Kyoto
9 Mar- Kyoto to Osaka then Osaka to Tokyo
Is it best for us to the 7 day Japan rail pass?

Yes, we do suggest using a 7-day JR Pass when you travel and make a return between Tokyo - Kyoto/Osaka. The cost of the pass is similar to a return ticket on this route. Now you get 7-days of unlimited travel for nearly the same price.
