What Lines are Covered by JR Pass or ICOCA Card?

Hi Rebecca,

All lines that have JR in front of them are covered by the JR Pass. In addition you can use Shinkansen and LTD express trains runs by JR, as well as the Tokyo Monorail to Haneda Airport.

The following LTD express lines are included:
LTD Exp Haruka 14
LTD EXP Thunderbird 5

As well as:
Shinkansen kagayaki 512

The JR Pass is not valid on metro lines and trains run by companies other than JR:
Kyoto City Subway Karasuma Line
Hanshin Namba Line
Randen Arashiyama Line
Randen Kitano Line
Disney Resort Line
Odakyu Odawara Line Exp
Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel, thank you for the information.

Is it possible to buy LTD Exp Thunderbird and Shinkansen kagayaki tickets in advance online?

Thank you.

Hi again!

Unfortunately not :(

However tickets rarely sell out (on average the Hokurika trains are 53% filled), so no worries about missing out.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
