Should i get the West JR pass?

Hi, i am planning a 7 days trip to Kyoto, Shiragawago and Osaka in Oct with my elderly parents and wonder if it is better for me to get the West JR pass. My itinerary is as follows :

Day 1: Arrive Kansai airport and stay 1 nite at airport hotel.
Day 2: Leave Kansai airport for Kyoto
Day 3 :Travel out to Arashiyama for day trip and back to Kyoto hotel
Day 4: Travel out to Nara for day trip and back to Kyoto hotel
Day 5: Leave Kyoto for Kanazawa (Shiragawago). Stay overnight.
Day 5: Leave Kanazawa for Osaka.
Day 6: Within Osaka
Day 7: Travel to Kansai airport to Osaka.

I noticed that the Kansai-Hokuriku Area pass covers the areas i've planned and wonder if its easier to just get this pass ?
As this pass only allows Non-reserved seats on some trains, does it mean that we have to arrive much earlier in order to get a seat ?
