I have the following schedule and was wondering if it was worth getting a jr pass and for how long (was thinking of the 2 week one for last 2 weeks)
Fly into Tokyo 15th - 22nd September
Kyoto 22nd - 1st October (day trips to Nara 24th, Osaka 27th and Kobe 28th)
Tokyo 1st - 3rd October then fly back
Also does anyone have any good recommendations for data only prepaid phones or routers.

For a mobile sim, look for a Bmobile Sim. It's pretty much the only budget option for foreign visitors.

As for the JR Pass a 14 day JR Pass would be able to offer great value, however you would have to add bit more travel for a JR Pass to be really efficient. For instance a day trip to Hiroshima or Kinosaki-Onsen would be a great addition. Traveling around is what the JR Pass is made for, so be sure to make good use of it.
