Yes, in general it is worth getting a 7 day JR Pass is you make a return Tokyo - Kyoto using the JRPass. This because the JR Pass is about the same price as a normal return ticket between both cities using the Shinkansen. So any other travel you may do with it is what you save.

The Nozomi train is not included but you can use the Hikari train service instead, the main difference is that the Hikari makes a couple more stops on the way and takes about 19min more for the full route.
