We anticipate to travel from Hiroshima with a ferry to Matsuyama. From there we intend to travel for 2-3 days on Shikoku/Ikumi Beach.
We are wondering about the following:
1. Trains from Matsuyama to Ikumi Beach or rent a car?;
2. Trains from Ikumi Beach back to nearest Shinkansen station back to Tokyo.
Any suggestions?

Hi Frank,
1.) You can travel nearly all the way there by train but it is a long route, though rent a car might be more flexible.
2.) That would be Okayama, you could take local transport (bus) to Kochi or train to Tokushima city and use a ltd.express train to Okayama.
I'm sure it will be a fantastic trip!
