We arrive in Osaka on the night of 11 April and leave from there on 23rd.
We will have the night of 11th in downtown Osaka, then travel to Hiroshima for 2 nights, then three nights in Tokyo, 2 in Kanazawa and then 4 in Kyoto.
I want to travel green class, and was thinking of a 7 day green JR pass. If I activate it in Osaka on 12 April, then it will get me to Kanazawa only. I feel I am wasting it in Tokyo. I want to go to Nara for a day from Kyoto.
Should I buy a JR pass or book the tickets individually?

Hi there,
You could indeed get a 7 day JR Pass and then buy a one way ticket to Kyoto. This would work and the JR Pass would be used effectively. Especially since you plan to travel in Green Class.
