Dear Sir/ Madam

I will be flying into Osaka in June 2015 for 10 days. Intend to take bullet train to Tokyo for 4 nights before heading back to Osaka for the rest.
- Is the JR pass valid for all trains, buses & ferries in both Osaka and Tokyo? - With JR pass, should i also get the 2-day Amazing Osaka pass where accessible to quite a no. of attractions free or at discounted rate? - When can i start purchasing the passes? - Will the train timetable change in 2015 especially between Osaka & Japan?

My sister & family will be travelling there as well in June 2015 but different period. They intend to visit Mt Fuji as well. Will you advise same purchase as me?

For your kind advice please.

Hi there,

The 7 day JR Pass would certainly be helpful and will pay of just by making the return Tokyo - Osaka. The JR Pass is valid for the entire JR Network in Tokyo and Osaka. Other transport such as the metro and non-JR buses are not included.

The Osaka unlimited pass could certain be a nice addition to the JR Pass. As it covers metro travel and access for free to many good attractions

It's too early to stay if timetables will change. Usually only small changes are made and it's not something you should worry about.

The JR Pass would also work well for you if you make the same trip with a visit to Fuji added in. There a different approaches to see and visit Fuji. Wiki travel has a great page about visiting Fuji.
