Hi all,
I am planning to start my trip in Tokyo and wanted to understand whether the Japan Rail Pass includes travel within the city or just travel outside
The overall plan is to go between Tokyo and Kyoto so deciding between a 7 day and a 14 day pass. If we can use the pass to get around Tokyo effectively then it would be worth a 14 day, but if not maybe a 7 day would be better and purchase individual tickets on a needs basis for Tokyo?
Any help appreciated!
Hi there,
The JR Pass is valid on local JR lines in Tokyo and other cities. At the same time, local travel is not expansive compared to longer distance travel. My advise would be to use a 7 day JR Pass for Tokyo <-> Kyoto and buy normal tickets for your remaining days in Tokyo.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
