Hello, was wondering if you can help me please.

we have brought our Japan rail passes and are staying in Tokyo, and want to travel to Hiroshima. To make the journey quicker can we up grade our rail passes so we could use the trains not included on the rail pass?
Can we just pay the difference from Shinkansen Hikari and sakura to Shinkansen Nozomi?
How much would it cost?

Hi Ryan,

Unfortunately it is not possible to use the Nozomi train with the JR Pass, travelers wishing to use the Nozomi have to pay the full trip!

While taking the Hikari/Sakura takes a bit longer, this can be a good excuse to plan in a stop somewhere to enjoy lunch or go by Himeji to view the castle.
