Hi! I am planning to go to Universal Studios, Osaka from Nippori (where our hotel is located). I will be buying the 7-day JR pass and I'm hoping to maximize the use of my pass in going to Osaka. I have googled possible routes going there but I am unsure of some things. Here are my questions:

What's the best route going to Osaka using my JR pass?
Some routes include transportation using Shinkansen Hikari. Will that be covered by my JR pass?

Thank you in advance!!

Hi there,

1.) Not to worry, getting from Nippori to Osaka is pretty easy. First take the Yamanote line from Nippori to Tokyo station. Here you can get on the Shinkansen to Shin-Osaka, from Shin-Osaka local trains run throughout the city. This entire route is free with the JR Pass.

2.) Yes the Hikari is covered!

Hope this helps,
Daniel
