Narita to Kyoto using Nozomi

Hello

I will be arriving at Narita at 4 in the afternoon on May 11 and want to take the Narita Express and then the Shinkansen to Kyoto. The connection I have found gets me to Kyoto at 22:28 on Nozomi 127. I would like to use a JR Pass for this but I see that the Nozomi train is not included. It looks like all of the good connections use the Nozomi train. Please advise as to what connection I could use the JR Pass with and still get to Kyoto before 23:00.

Hi there,

Here are some suitable itineraries from Narita to Kyoto getting you into Kyoto just before 10pm. These assume you will take 1h30m to clear customs, pick up luggage and activate your JR Pass. In case you think you will take longer to clear the airport, here is another set of trips that give you 2h15m to clear customs and get you into Kyoto at 10:11pm

Thank you, that is just what I was looking for.

Since I will be returning to Narita on the morning of May 17th, I'll get a 7-day pass.

Can you give me itineraries for the return as well? My flight departs Narita at 3:55 pm.

Not a problem - here's a set of itineraries for your return from Kyoto to Narita (assuming arrival at Narita by 2pm).

You can look up train timetables and costs for all of your legs at the Hyperdia travel planning website and learn how to use Hyperdia for Japan Rail Pass holders through our video blog (we explain how to de-select Nozomi class trains when you search for routes).
