Combine train travel trip and hiking .

HI,
How best can I combine the above for the following destinations:

Arrive in Tokyo, stay 2 days
Activate pass at airport or better the day of departure to onward destination?

Travel by Bullet to Osaka. 2 nights

=Visit Himenji Castle.

= Next day Nara and Yoshinoyama .( Is it possible in one day )? O/N? Nara? ( I saw that this is a regional train. I suppose the Pass can not be used on it)?
Or continue to Kyoto on the JR pass.
Kyoto 3 days +- then on to Nagoya (covered by the pass?), for the Nakasendo Kiso walk for 6 days ending in Takayama, on to Tokyo 2 night and fly out.

SO: 7 day pass? worth it? and is there a regional pass for the above mentioned area -?
any additional advice, gratefully accepted.

Hi there,

A 7 day JR Pass would be worth it if you use it from travel to Osaka, Himeji and are back in Tokyo before it expires. From your writing, this is not exactly clear to me but the pass would be useful if you fit this travel in a 7 day period.

Travel to Nara, Kyoto and the Nakasendo can also be done by JR.

thanks for your reply;
since I have rearranged my trip.
Tokyo( Shinkansen -Kanazawa) ,(day trip Shirakawa -Go and Takayama,) or better 2 days ? Kanazawa (Shinkansen)- Osaka. + Himenji, Yoshino,Kyoto - End of 7 day pass. Pay extra to Nagoya.
Nakasendo-Kiso, Hike, then from Matsumoto pay extra to return to Tokyo.
in Tokyo buy a 72 hr train pass.

1) Is the time table good.
2) Is it worth buying the 7 day pass, even when I loose 2 days.
