Hi Daniel-san,

I would be staying for a night in Takayama and the next night in Shirakawago.
I was wondering if i could check out in Shirakawago and then proceed to kanazawa for a day trip and then reach hiroshima by train by the end of the day..
Do you think it is a good idea to do so ....or would it take too long to reach hiroshima by the end of the day?

Hi Sudha,

It is quite a long trip from Kanazawa to Hiroshima and rail travel alone nearly would take 5 hours. While not impossible, this would be a lot of travel if you include the bus from Shirakawa-go as well.

It may be better to make a stop in between at Kanazawa, Kyoto or Osaka.

Thanks for your feedback.I would like to know your opinion on my 17 day itenary.We are two adults and 2 kids aged 8 and 12 years

We would be arriving in tokyo on 8th morning at Narita airport.WE plan to take a 14 day JR pass and activate it at the airport.
We would be staying in Tokyo for 4 nights and leave tokyo on 12th.( we plan to do day trips to yokohama and nagoya to see the train museum and car factory).

we plan to go to takayama on 12 th and stay there for a night.
On 13th we plan to go to shirakawago and stay there on 13th night.
on 14th we go to kanazawa and reach kyoto by the end of the day.
Reach kyoto by 14th night and stay there for 4 days.( from kyoto we plan to do day trip to hiroshima or do u suggest we stay overnight in hiroshima as well)

On 19th morning we take the earliest train to Niseko (i understand it is a long journey).
stay in Niseko for 4 nights.
on 23 rd morning we leave niseko and reach sapporo by train.from sapporo we take a flight back to tokyo and reach tokyo by evening and spend our last night in tokyo.
On 24th morning we catch our flight back to India.
Please let me know your thoughts on the itenary .

I would also like to know if the shipping of JR pass to India would be more compared to shipping it to some place in Japan.

Hi Sudha,

I hope you are well. It's good to see your itinerary getting planned.

It looks good to me, possible you could save some more money by using the train to travel back from Sapporo to Tokyo.

As you say, the trip to Niseko will be long. So the best thing to do is prepare for it. Bring something to keep yourself entertained.

In terms of shipping there is a small difference in shipping price but this is very small. You can find the details here:

if i take a 14 day JRpass , i will not be able to use it to come back from niseko to Tokyo..

I was trying to look at the train timings from kyoto to niseko on 19th morning..
i checked that the earliest train starts around 12 .30 pm and i would end up in niseko the next day..
Could you please check that for me..
In that car ei have three options:
1.take flight from osaka to sapporo and then go to niseko by train.
2.take flight from tokyo to sapporo and then go to niseko by train.
3.the earliest train from tokyo to niseko starts at 6 in the morning.so i need to reach tokyo the previous night.so when would the last shinkansen leave from kyoto to tokyo.
