Which JR pass?

Hi, I'm not sure when i should activate my JR pass and if I should buy the 7 days or 14 days. My itinerary is as follows

Land 8th July in Osaka, train to Osaka
9th July - Osaka exploring
10th July - Universal Studios
11th July - Day trip to Nara
12th July - Day trip to Kyoto
13th July - Day trip to Kobe
14th July - Free day
15th July - Staying in Nagoya
16th July - Tokyo (Shinjuku)
17th July - Disneyland
18th July - Disneysea
19th July - Shibuya/Harajuku
20/21st July - Shinjuku
22nd July - Akihabara
23/24th July - Free days
25th July - Back to OSAKA
26/27/28 - Free days
Flying back home night of 28th July.

Any feedback on my itinerary and thoughts are appreciated, thanks

Hi there,

I checked your itinerary for the best option and it you are right in between a 7-day and 14-day JR Pass. You need a pass longer than 7 days but don't cover enough for a 14 day JR Pass to be cost efficient. As your itinerary stands now, I think buying normal tickets would make the best sense.

Hi Daniel, what if I were to change my itinerary so that I activate my JR pass on the 11th of July and go back to Osaka on the 24th?
Would that be worth the 14 day JR pass?
Or should I buy the 7 day pass for my time in Osaka at the beginning, and then buy a separate ticket to go from tokyo back to osaka?

Hi again,

I don't think it makes a big difference. Unless your plan would change a lot, I think just buying the tickets as you go is the better option here. A 7-day JR Pass would be good when used for a return Osaka - Tokyo.
