Is the 14day pass worth it?

Hello,

I have a question about the JR pass for 14 days.
Our current itinerary looks like this:
31 may arrive at Osaka airport
4th of June Koyasan
5 June Tokyo
10 June Sendai
14 June Sapporo
19 June Tokyo

It does not seem worth it to buy the 21 day pass, but is it possible to buy the 14 day pass on the 1st of June and use it till the 14th of June to travel to Sapporo? We will also be using local trains during our stay in Major cities, for example we will visit Hakone, Yamadera, Matsushima Bay and Okama as day trips.
Or should we buy a local pass like the JR east south Hokkaido rail pass when we are in from 8 June to 14 June Tokyo?
And do i still need to collect it at the airport on at a JR station?
