Hi. This will be my first time to japan. I will be going to hiroshima this coming monday till early november with my family with a baby. However I will only be able to travel around japan during the weekends. So totally i have like 4 weekends. At least I plan to visit tokyo. Would like advice on any suggested itinerary and if jr rail pass will be economical for our travelling in japan.
advice whether to buy jr pass
Hi there,
A JR Pass could certainly be helpful. Consider this, a return ticket Hiroshima - Tokyo is 36,720 while a 7 day JR Pass is ¥ 29,110 and gives you 7 days of unlimited travel.
Depending on your planning a 7 or even a 14 day JR Pass could be worth it, even if you'll just be making trips in the weekend. The great thing of the JR Pass is that it opens all of Japan to you without having to worry about travel costs.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
Hi daniel-san, Thanks for your reply. Indeed a jr rail is worth it. Do you have any recommended place to visit in japan during weekend?
Hi Again,
I would probably head south into Kyushu. There are a lot of great places there, Fukuoka is a nice city but also Nagasaki is a top visit. You could visit Beppu if you wish to try a Japanese onsen.
Closer day trips from Hiroshima include Miyajima, Onomichi and Iwakuni. All are worth a visit.
Lastly you could go up north of Hiroshima. Both Matsue and Izumo are very nice too.
Hope this gives you some inspiration :)
