dear staff,
we intend to travel to niigata (and sado island) by passing through Nagano. Does the JRP cover this itinerary?
many thanks for your answer.

Hi Doris,

Yes, the JR Pass covers both the Shinkansen to Nagano and Niigata.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

good morning Daniel,
I've also asked to the Sado Kisen Co and I please you to find hereafter their answer :

Dear Doris Loch,

Thank you for your e-mail.

If you do not have JR EAST pass, you need to buy ferry tickets ( go and back) at Sadokisen Niigata port.

For fare details, please see our homepage below.

If you want to book ferry, you can book from our homepage below.

You can book 3 months prior to your boarding day. Thank you,

Regards

Masae Honma

Sado Steam Ship co.,ltd.

Now I'm confused : what we have to do?

Awaiting your answer
best regards
Doris

Hi Doris,

I checked the general website for the ticket you mentioned and there was no mention there that a JR East pass was required. This is what I based my reply on. If Sadokisen, tells you differently, then it is best to simply buy a normal ticket for them.

Kind regards,
Daniel

Hello Daniel,
as you I think it would be better to buy the tickets there ...
And we'll enjoy our stay on Sado Island, even in November ..;
Best greetings
Doris
