Hi Daniel - san

I kind of have a plan for my trip to Japan in April next year and we're hoping to get the 7 Day Pass but can't decide if we should go Green / Ordinary - was hoping you can help us with this?

Furthermore, can we reserve the seats online before we get to Japan or do we have to be in Japan to reserve the seats?

Happy to hear your suggestion on what other pass we can use to maximise cost saving same & time for our trip.

Day 1-2 in Kyoto (Nara Park & Arashiyama bamboo grove)
Day 3 - 9 in Osaka ( Universal Studio, Hiroshima/Miyajima, Tempozan Marketplace & Osaka Aquarium)
Day 10-11 in Fukuoka ( use JR Pass from Osaka to Fukuoka then do a day trip to Nagasaki)
Day 13 - Head to Nagoya (visit Studio Ghibli museum if possible)
Day 14 - Head to Tokyo
Day 15 - Day trip to Yokohoma from Tokyo
Day 16 - Day trip to Miyagi from Tokyo- we would like to visit the fox village (last day to use JR Pass?).
Day 17 - Rest Day - Shopping in Tokyo
Day 18 - Day trip to Fuji Q and Gotemba Premium Outlets (wondering what is the easiest way to get to these two destination from Tokyo?)
Day 19 - Hanaeda airport

Thank you.

Cindy

Hi Cindy,

Would you also use the JR Pass to travel to Hiroshima/Miyajima as a stopover to Fukuoka or as a day trip from Osaka? This does make a big difference in price and time, so I'd recommend the stopover option if possible. That said, whether to upgrade to Green Class or not, is much a personal decision. Ask yourself if budget is more important, then go with ordinary, if you prefer extra quiet and comfort during your travels, and don't mind paying a bit extra, then Green Class is the way to go. We have a page explaining: What to Expect from Green Class, and it should give you a better idea. Lastly, keep in mind, the more you use it, the more it pays off. You do spend a good amount of time on the train, so it may be worth it.

Fuji Q, can be reachued using the Fujikyu line from Shinjuku (Tokyo) or Otsuki station. While Gotemba can be reached by local line that branch of the Shinkansen (Mishima station), there are also bus connections between the two.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
