Would a Japan Rail Pass be alright to use with this itinerary? And if I buy the JRP before coming to japan, can i activate it whenever i want so i can get either the 14-day pass or 7-day pass?
day 1: haneda airport to shinjuku, tokyo
day 6: hakone
day 8: kyoto
day 12: osaka
day 16: haneda airport, tokyo

I am quite anxious about travelling. any help would be appreciated!

Hi there,

A Japan Rail Pass is best used for longer trips, think of travel between Hakone - Kyoto and Osaka - Tokyo/Haneda. A 7 day JR Pass would work well if used for these two trips. However, you have these more than 7 days away and a 14 day JR Pass would require more travel to be cost effective. For now I would buy normal tickets but if your plan is flexible, then a 14 day JR Pass would be quickly worth it :)

Kind regards,
Daniel
